THE BEATLES LOVE by CIRQUE DU SOLEIL begins creative evolution leading to 10th anniversary celebration
New Music, Acts and Technology Bring New Colour to the World's Most Celebrated Musical Experience
Tickets Are on Sale Now for LOVE's Special 10th Anniversary Celebration Performance on July 14th
The Beatles(TM) LOVE(TM) by Cirque du Soleil(R) at The Mirage Hotel & Casino, one of the most celebrated shows in the world, is evolving to deliver a more dynamic and engaging version of the musical experience that has already captured the hearts of music and theater fans worldwide. Tickets are on sale for LOVE's special 10th anniversary celebration performance on Thursday, July 14th at 8pm.
The first wave of new acts, costumes, choreography, technology and music, designed to bring the vibrant and culture-shifting sounds and settings of The Beatles' musical revolution to renewed life, are in place now. The show will continue to evolve with a culmination tied to its 10th anniversary this summer.
"The Beatles LOVE has had incredible success over the last 10 years and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this great union of The Beatles and Cirque du Soleil, we are preparing many gifts to add to the vibrancy of this colorful, immersive rock and roll poem," said Dominic Champagne, writer, director and original concept creator of LOVE. "People love The Beatles' virtual presence in the show, and they'll get more, along with more acrobatics, more visuals, more special effects and more...LOVE!"
Fans will immediately recognize that the GRAMMY Award(R)-winning soundtrack to LOVE has grown to include the fan favorite, "Twist and Shout." With a reinvigorated pulse of sound led by Musical Director Giles Martin, son of the legendary Beatles producer, Sir George Martin, the show's listening experience has been heightened with a completely remixed soundtrack.
"We have optimized the entire musical experience of LOVE to include today's technological advantages that weren't available when the show was created," said Giles Martin. "LOVE's soundtrack has never sounded better, and with new state-of-the-art speakers, the mix is so clear that you'll really feel the punch and power of The Beatles' brilliance!"
Audiences will see stunning new acts and vibrant choreography, pushing the artistic and acrobatic content to new heights. NappyTabs, the Emmy award-winning choreographers of "So You Think You Can Dance" fame, have been brought in to update sequences with fresh steps for the incredibly talented cast of 77 artists.
A decade of technological innovation has given the creative team the ability to add dynamic new visuals and projections to bring The Beatles themselves, as well as their messages, to life. The engaging new imagery created by Dandypunk is drawn by hand, instead of a computer, proving to be a painstakingly long but effective process. The projection additions give a human touch to the show, and are played through 20 new projectors, also utilizing the stage floor as a new projection surface.
"We had a unique opportunity to revisit this groundbreaking show with our partners at Apple Corps Ltd. and our original creative team and do some things that just weren't possible when the show opened," said Jerry Nadal, senior vice president, Cirque du Soleil. "Ultimately, this evolution pushes the legacy of innovation that both The Beatles and Cirque du Soleil have built over the last several decades forward. The Beatles created a brand new sound that sparked a musical revolution and Cirque brought an entirely new genre of performance spectacular to life; it's only fitting that the project which brought us together continues to evolve for fans to revisit or experience for the first time."
While many of the planned changes are now in place, LOVE will continue to evolve as elements are added and refined, leading up to the 10th anniversary celebration performance in July.
Since its debut, The Beatles(TM) LOVE(TM) by Cirque du Soleil(R) has been seen by nearly eight million people in more than 4,500 performances.
