“First off, let's get this straight - I'm a compleatest fan - I love them all. I chose Please Please Me because of its energy - almost manic. The original idea was that it was to almost be a ballad, until, if legend serves, George Martin suggested speeding it it up and then Voila! The melody, the double entendre, the sense of urgency, the opening harmonica (one of my favorite Beatle sounds btw)- all succeed in this follow up to Love Me Do.”
