“'Two of Us' sounds like a song from John and Paul's adolescence in Liverpool. However, the 'two of us' weren't Paul and John, but Paul and Linda. To Paul, one of the most attractive things in his new girlfriend was her carefree look for everything. In a busy life full of time tables and obligations, he was delighted about (...) being with someone whom he could forget he was a Beatle.
After they met in 1968, Linda taught Paul how to get complitly lost. She took him in her car without any destination. For a Beatles, who heard where and when he was supposed to be, it was a exciting return to freedom. 'When I was a child, I loved to get lost. I used to say to my father - let's get lost. But it seemed it was impossible to completly get lost. Every sign ended up taking us back to New York or wherever we were! Then, when I moved to England to live with Paul, we puted Marha on the back seat of the car and left London. When we reached the road, I said 'let's get lost', and drove without looking at the signs. That's where 'two of us going nowhere' comes from.' says Linda.
And she continues: 'Paul wrote 'Two of Us' in that time. It's about us. We just entered in some clearing and stoped the car. I just went walking and Paul was sitting in the car writing. He also talks about postcards because we used to send cards.'”
