“The thing I fear the most is, before the really good unreleased stuff can be released, Paul and Ringo will have kicked the bucket and we'll never hear or see anything Beatle related again!”
“Unfortunately, Apple Inc was able to craft a deal in which the Beatles, the most successful band in history, were to be *exclusively* available on iTunes... Think about it, you don't see the Rolling Stones, U2, or Queen being "exclusively available" on any company's digital service. If you wanted to, you could buy their albums from Amazon MP3, Zune, or Napster. Prices will range and there is competition between them over such pricing. Apple Inc has effectively established a monopoly over the Beatles' digital catalog and now have considerable leverage in Apple Corps' business dealings as digital music now dominates the industry. That's why Apple Inc used its' muscle to release the totally unnecessary "Anthology Highlights!" album exclusively on iTunes and they've done it again with this release. So let's be clear about which "Apple" was behind this; its not a very inspiring trend and I expect we'll see more of it before this time next year...”
“One of the things that upsets me about this release is that it seems to be only useful for the purpose of introducing some of their more famous rock songs to a younger, digital audience that may not be totally familiar with them. If that were the case, I would be fine with it. However, it is not being marketed as such...”
“Rain would have been ieal here. or the mono version of She said, she said. But a fine collection, showing the beatles to be rockers with the best of them.”
