George Harrison Documentary Directed By Martin Scorcese

Announced at the Cannes Film Festival in May, Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese is directing a documentary about the life of George Harrison. Scorsese has been working with Olivia Harrison for the last 2 years on the film, which will look at Harrison’s entire life.

"His music is very important to me," Scorsese said of Harrison. "So I was interested in the journey that he took as an artist. The film is an exploration.”

The film will feature previously unreleased footage and photos as well as unreleased recordings that the guitarist saved. Mrs. Harrison, one of the film’s producers, has spent years going through her husband’s tapes, notes and photos to deliver essential elements for the film. "Marty had a connection with George, and they spent some time together. He is as passionate about film and music as George was passionate about music and film."

In addition to his impressive list of feature films, Scorsese has directed iconic rock & roll documentaries including “No Direction Home”, “Shine A Light”, and “The Last Waltz”.

The film is planned for a 2011 release.

I'm really looking forward to this movie. I grew up listening to the Beatles, every one of their albums, over and over again. Even now that I am 50, they're not old or stale, I still enjoy their music as much as ever.

Want proof of how timeless they are? Just read the comments and see how many young people are into the Beatles. I don't think this will ever be duplicated, not on this scale.

I always stood out in the crowd as a child because my favorites were George and John. Something about their personalities and abilities appealed more to me. There was thought and purpose to their music.

George isn't a Dark Horse anymore!!!! A Dark Horse is the horse in the back of the race that no one bets on. Then in the end the dark horse beats everyone and no expects it. George is a Bright Horse!!!!
