12 Hours to Record Please Please Me
On Monday 11th February 1963 the Beatles’ debut album was recorded in just one day. On the 50th anniversary of that 12-hour session at Abbey Road, leading artists attempt the same feat, in the same timescale, in the same studio.
Acclaimed guitarist Graham Coxon, Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford from Squeeze and Manchester’s I Am Kloot join soul sensation Joss Stone, The Stereophonics, Gabrielle Aplin and Mick Hucknall for the event.
The results are broadcast live in exact recording order and timing, as Abbey Road links up with Western House throughout the day on Radio 2, on Monday 11th February 2013. The event will then be broadcast on BBC Four at the end of that week in an hour long special.

From 19:00 - 22:30, as the day reaches a climax and as the pace of songs recorded increases - as it did 50 years before - Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 will join Stuart Maconie and host a three hour show coming live from Abbey Road. After their own recording, artists might stay on for the climax of the day, the performance of "Twist and Shout".

Bis Managers on 11th Apr 13:
“Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Please Please Me, the debut album of The Beatles released on 22 March 1963 in the United Kingdom and on 27 January 1964 in Spain, the Spanish tribute band Los Escarabajos has launched The Long Play Sessions (From Cage to Stage). It consists of an ambitious recording and filming project of the Beatles discography in its evolution from rehearsals to live performances, with replicas of the instruments and effects similar to those used on the original masters. Thus, from the aforementioned date, Los Escarabajos will be periodically publishing each of the fourteen tracks from Please Please Me on their YouTube channel, named TheLongPlaySessions and created expressly for this purpose, until arriving at the second LP of the Fab Four, With The Beatles, and so on. The first song, "I Saw Her Standing There", can be seen on the following link:
